RHS Award of Garden Merit

A wonderful, ornamental medium-sized tree with golden shoots, foliage and catkins in spring. The leaves age to golden-green in the summer before turning yellow and then dropping in the autumn, leaving yellowish-orange bare shoots visible in winter. An invaluable tree for year round interest, especially for difficult damp situations. The leaves of this tree will turn a stronger more vivid shade of golden-yellow if it is planted in a sunny position, although foliage can be susceptible to scorch in hot summers. Best planted in a moist position, but will grow in most difficult sites with poor soils and exposure and will even tolerate some drought.
